Bohemians 0 Limerick 1

Rory Gaffney clinically punished Bohemians to earn Limerick their first win of the season.

The 24-year-old striker got the only goal of a dour game at Dalymount six minutes into the second half. Bohemians' keeper Lee Murphy failed to gather a Sami Oji cross from the left and Gaffney volleyed to the roof of the net for his first goal of the campaign.

Bohemians huffed an puffed for much of the remainder of the game with their only real chance falling to substitute Jason Byrne whose effort was easily saved by Barry Ryan ten minutes from time.

Despite a fair deal of possession, save for two long-range efforts from Kevin Devaney and Craig Walsh, Bohemians struggled to really trouble Limerick goalkeeper Ryan in the first half.

Limerick had loud claims for a penalty declined after Roberto Lopes appeared to handle a shot from Craig Curran after Gaffney picked out the latter with a cross.

The visitors' Prince Agyemang produced the half's best piece of skill on 34 minutes when he controlled Robbie Williams' ball from the left to send a dipping volley with the outside of his right foot inches over the bar from 30 yards.

A minute later the Ghanaian was narrowly wide with a left-foot shot from a similar distance.

There was a little more urgency into the second half with Bohemians' Stephen Traynor shooting wide across goal after Steven Beattie's fine pull-back before Gaffney's goal finally earned Limerick their first three points.
