The Old Firm game between Celtic and Rangers on Wednesday has been postponed as a mark of respect for late Motherwell and former Celtic midfielder Phil O'Donnell.

O'Donnell, 35, died soon after collapsing on the pitch during Saturday's game between Motherwell and Dundee United. He spent five years at Celtic in the 1990s.
  
Motherwell have already postponed their next two games against Hibernian and Celtic while the Gretna v St Mirren game scheduled for Wednesday at Motherwell's Fir Park was also called off.
   
The January 2nd Old Firm clash is traditionally one of the biggest occasions in the Scottish soccer calendar, but players and staff at Celtic requested the postponement of the match at Celtic Park, and Rangers and league officials were happy to agree to it.
