Charlie Swan's Punchestown Tips: 2.00 - Dabiroun was a very good winner at Cheltenham but then he disappointed at Liverpool. Paul Nolan wouldn't run him again unless he was right but I was impressed with the way Levitator won his first race over hurdles at Fairyhouse and he will do for me instead.
SELECTION: Levitator.
2.35 - Queen Astrid looked very good on her first two starts over jumps but she has been a bit disappointing since. Mrs Wallensky always runs a good race but Blazing Liss is a very nice mare and her form has generally held up well.
SELECTION: Blazing Liss.
3.10 - Definate Spectacle was very impressive at Liverpool and despite being put up 11lb I think he will be very hard to beat. I've got Crooked Throw in this and if the rain doesn't hit Punchestown he will have a chance. He has been crying out for good ground. If the ground isn't suitable then Allez Petit Luis could be the danger.
SELECTION: Definate Spectacle.
3.45 - I was surprised at Kicking King in Cheltenham. I didn't think he could win off the interrupted preparation that he had and I certainly didn't think he could win the way he did in the end. He showed he is a real class horse and should win again. I know Tom Taaffe is very happy with the way he has been going at home. Kingscliff is a good horse on his day but the danger for me is Rule Supreme. His jumping is always a bit suspect but Ruby Walsh is on him today and I suspect he will manage to find a way to get Rule Supreme around.
SELECTION: Kicking King.
4.20 - I run two in this, Over The First and Oh Be The Hokey. Tony Dobbin was shot into orbit by Over The First when he hit The Chair in the Topham at Aintree. Usually he is very careful at his fences and that might be a problem here. Oh Be The Hokey was disappointing at Cheltenham but I'm hopeful he will do better now. The one I'm afraid of is Dantes Reef. He does make errors, and a big field might be a disadvantage, but he still looks to have a good chance.
SELECTION: Dantes Reef.
4.55 - I liked Missed That very much at Cheltenham and he should do the double. Eye On The Ball looked like he was going to win at Cheltenham at one stage but then fell away. It might have been greenness and, with that experience, he looks the danger.
SELECTION: Missed That.
5.30 - Sandy Owen is coming to this race a fresh horse and that suits him. Livingstonebramble has good form but Sandy Owen is my idea of the winner.
SELECTION: Sandy Owen.
6.05 - Never Compromise got to the 13th fence in the Foxhunters at Liverpool but then the big fences got him. He is a good horse in this class but this might come a bit quick after his last race. I'd side with Lord Of The Turf instead.
SELECTION: Lord Of The Turf.
