St Gall's 0-13 Cavan Gaels 0-8:An impressive second-half display at Casement Park yesterday was not enough for Cavan Gaels as they were knocked out of the Ulster club championship by Antrim side St Gall's.
The Gaels failed to match their opposition in the first half and trailed by 0-8 to 0-2 at the break, their two points coming in the opening five minutes from Michael Lyng who remained their best attacker throughout.
Lack of cohesion overall in the Gaels attack meant that the home defence was always on top.
St Gall's strung together some excellent passing movements and kept the pressure on the Gaels with half backs Paul Veronica, Seán Kelly and Anto Healy driving forward.
The visitors managed only four first-half attacks, putting those early two points on the board and shooting two wides.
The second half was a different affair as Cavan Gaels blew up an early storm and allowed the home side score only once in 10 minutes as substitute Seanie Johnston, Kevin Downes and Anthony Forde narrowed the gap to 0-9 to 0-5.
However, they were unable to get the scores that would have seriously challenged the Antrim champions.
