CONNACHT SF A SEMI-FINALS: St Gerald's, Castlebar 0-11 St Colman's, Claremorris 0-6:CHAMPIONS ST Colman's were defeated by St Gerald's in the Connacht Colleges Senior A semi-final at Ballinrobe yesterday.
St Gerald’s trailed 0-5 to 0-4 at the break but with the wind at their backs in the second half they took control to emerge winners.
The Castlebar school were five points down after 18 minutes but came back with four points, including three from Mayo minor Cillian O’Connor, to narrow the gap to one at the break.
O’Connor nailed another three in the second half to send St Gerald’s on their way to a meeting with Summerhill of Sligo, who defeated St Muredach’s.
David Stenson was another big contributor for the winners on a day when scores were hard to come by, the defending champions scoring just one point in the second half from Josh Ronane on 36 minutes as St Gerald’s pulled away in the closing five minutes.
