LEAGUE CUP: Shamrock Rovers 0 St Patrick's Athletic 3 Three goals in a purple patch either side of half-time put St Patrick's Athletic emphatically into the semi-finals of the League Cup as they dispatched their tenants at Richmond Park.
A more experienced Rovers side started brightly but failed to create a solid chance before St Patrick's wore them down to take a deserved lead a minute before the break.
Rovers didn't defend Michael Holt's ball into their area and Davy Byrne picked out David Freeman with a firmly-placed header for the striker to slide the ball past Barry Ryan from 10 yards.
Substitute Liam George added a second on 56 minutes and the game was all over on the hour when Holt drilled the free kick into the bottom left-hand corner of Ryan's net.
Rovers finished the game with 10 men when Glen Lacey was sent off on 67 minutes for a foul on Anthony Murphy.
