The classic-winning trainer and former Grand National-winning rider Tommy Stack was rushed to hospital in Cork yesterday and is described as being very seriously ill.
The Co Tipperary-based trainer is currently in a "stable" condition at Cork University Hospital.
Stack, who trains at Thomastown Castle Stud near Cashel, sent out Las Meninas to win the 1994 English 1,000 Guineas and Tarascon to win this year's Irish 1,000 Guineas. However, he is best known for riding Red Rum to success in the 1977 Grand National.
He was champion jumps jockey in 1974/'75 and 1976/'77 with 82 and 97 winners respectively.
