I have learned from a newspaper report today that the GPA are to announce an endorsement arrangement which would potentially benefit a small number of players. I was not appraised by the GPA of their proposal and am not prepared to comment on it until such time as I have studied its full content and implications. I wish to confirm, however, that any issues that may arise will be addressed through the association's normal procedures and channels.
For the record, I also wish to point out that contrary to the erroneous impression given in today's newspaper report regarding the GPA's announcement, the GAA's regulations and policies regarding players' endorsements provides for 90 per cent of any endorsement payment going directly to players. The breakdown is as follows.
A. Fifty per cent of the endorsement to the individual player in question. B. Thirty per cent to the county panel finance fund. C. Ten per cent to a hardship fund for current or former players. D. Ten per cent to the player's County Board.
