Planet rugby is indebted to Ireland's premier rugby statistician Des Daly for a comprehensive revision of the recent Guinness Interprovincial championship in which Munster won a second successive title for the first time in their history. They achieved this with a Grand Slam, six wins in as many matches and 28 from a possible maximum of 30 points.
Other interesting statistics:
Leinster and Ulster achieved greater success away from home than on their own patch.
That three of the four provinces - Ulster managed the same total (nine) home and away - scored more tries away from home.
That the average tries per game was almost six, up on previous years but that on only seven occasions out of a possible 24 opportunities was the try scoring (four or more) bonus realised.
That Leinster used the most players (32) followed by Munster (30), Ulster (29) and Connacht (25).
