Bray Wanderers moved a positive step closer to the quarterfinals of the League Cup with a convincing 2-1 defeat of UCD in their Group F tie at the Carlisle Grounds last night. Bray took a deserved lead on 17 minutes when Pat O'Brien cut in from the right to play Kieran O'Brien in behind the UCD defence and he shot first time past Seamus Kelly from 12 yards.
Parsons's determination and skill carved out Bray's second goal in the 39th minute. He twice won possession before threading a sublime pass into the path of Robbie Coyle, who ran from inside his own half before rounding Kelly and sliding the ball home.
UCD got back into the game with a debut goal from former Dublin under-21 GAA player, Damien Bolger, who headed home at the back post.
Drogheda Untied beat Longford Town 2-1 in their rearranged Group D match at United Park. Irwin shot Drogheda into a 23rd minute lead, before Frank Larkin equalised on the hour. Drogheda's winner on 82 minutes was created by Darius Kierans, whose cross was headed past Anthony Keenan at the back post by recent signing Roy Fox.
