UCD 3 Bray Wanderers 2: Inspired by two second-half goals from winger Pat McWalter, UCD stretched their unbeaten record to seven games in this thriller at Belfield Park last night.

The Students took the lead on 15 minutes when Robbie Martin pushed aside the challenge of Colm Tresson. His low cross opened up the defence and winger Stephen Hurley fired home an angled shot.

The Seagulls were full value for their equaliser on 24 minutes. Former Irish under-21 international Eamon Zayed threaded through a clever ball to Ciarán O'Brien and he curled a left-foot effort from the edge of the box into the roof of the net.

On 61 minutes there was no denying Zayed when he chased a long ball down the right from Paul O'Reilly, beating the College defence for pace. His low, angled shot agonisingly struck the far upright and rebounded into the net past a bemused Quigley.

The Students' response was immediate; they equalised within a minute when McWalter cracked a shot past goalkeeper Chris O'Connor from 15 yards after Tresson had lost possession.

And it was that man McWalter again on 75 minutes when he coolly collected another clever ball from Paul Whitmarsh and shot past the advancing O'Connor with a clinical finish into the corner of the net.

Even the introduction of late substitutes Eddie Gormley, Conor Sinnott and Barry McGrory could not rescue a Bray side who have now suffered eight defeats in their last nine league games.
