Aimed exclusively at the top four Premier Division teams from last season, the action begins this evening as Shamrock Rovers, knocked out of the Inter Toto Cup last Sunday, take on Cork City at the Morton Stadium, Santry.
The venue used for the first time by FAI for League of Ireland competition, will also see the two chief principals from last season, Shelbourne and St Patrick's Athletic, lock horns in the second semi-final on Thurday.
Finally the third place play-off and the final itself will then move to Tolka Park on Sunday afternoon with a prize fund of £20,000 split between the four contestants.
