Three tries helped Terenure College to their first All-Ireland League Division One win of the season at Crowley Park on Saturday.
The Terenure pace were dominant in the first half and scrumhalf Kevin Putt released hooker Cormac Egan on a diagonal break and Richard Governey converted the try. Galwegians scrumhalf Bryan Shelbourne landed four penalties on the trot before the break to a drop goal by Putt to leave the interval score Galwegians 12, Terenure 10.
Early in the second half Governey slotted home a 20-metre penalty from the right, and while Galwegians had a good period after this score they did not add score.
A second try for Terenure arrived at a critical stage of the clash near the end of the third quarter when open side flanker Brendan Kavanagh dived over from a ruck close to the Galwegians line, Governey was off target with his conversion.
