HOCKEY:While the weekend's results were rendered somewhat meaningless, Three Rock Rovers signalled their intent yesterday in Loughlinstown in their quest for a fifth National Indoor Trophy in six years. They swept aside Glenanne 6-2 with Jethro Eustice – brought in from Corinthian for the campaign – netting twice while fellow South African Jody Hosking also netted a brace.

They closed out group two with a 8-0 win over Clontarf with Garry Ringwood chipping in with a hat-trick.

Glenanne go through in second place with a 8-2 win over Clontarf who also progress to the super six phase next Saturday despite the heavy losses. In group one, YMCA took top spot as Pembroke were unable to field for a second weekend. And a mix-up over times for the final game in the pool – YMCA against Suttonians – meant no further action took place. YMCA, therefore, progressed with NICS and Railway Union.
