St Brigid's 2-9 Padraig Pearses 0-11: A goal by John Tiernan, his second of the game, with six minutes to go, secured St Brigid's a seventh title at Hyde Park yesterday.
A point for Pearses' Seán Fahy put them ahead after 17 minutes. Four minutes later Tiernan pounced for his first goal. Karol Mannion added a point but Pearses hit back with two from Fahy and one from Niall Finneran to go in level at half-time.
Pearses began the second half impressively with two points by Fahy. St Brigid's captain Brendan O'Brien kicked a quick response and Ian Kilbride landed an equaliser in the 39th minute. O'Brien edged St Brigid's in front but Fahy brought the teams level again with a free after 47 minutes.
The teams were deadlocked seven minutes from the end when Senan Kilbride won a kick-out and found his brother, Ian, who released Tiernan, who drilled the ball to the net.
