BOXING:The Irish Amateur Boxing Association celebrated another outstanding year at their 2007 Awards ceremony at the Ringside club adjacent to the National Stadium in Dublin last night.

World and three-times European champion Katie Taylor, 2008 Irish Olympian Paddy Barnes, EU gold medal winners, Ken Egan, Darren Sutherland and Roy Sheahan were just some of the recipients of the top awards.

The Irish schoolboy squad, who claimed an astonishing two gold, one silver and five bronze medals at the European Championships were also back on top of the podium at the Belfast Crystal-sponsored ceremony.

President of the IABA, Dominic O'Rourke, described 2007 as a fantastic 12 months.
