Tote Ireland yesterday unveiled a plan to increase their turnover to £90 million within the next five years. The current turnover is £28 million.

A £2 million investment by the Irish Horseracing Authority subsidiary in racetrack facilities, brand identity and sponsorship is planned and what is described as a "key objective" will be the availability of the Tote in the country's betting offices, as well as common pool betting into major world racing fixtures, by this time next year.

The Tote Ireland General Manager John White said: "Our aim is to create a major brand in Irish wagering on track, tele-betting, internet and in betting offices on the high street."
