The 100 metres final may have been missing two of the big guns - Olympic champion Donovan Bailey of Canada and current world 200 metres champion Ato Boldon of Trinidad - but that didn't stop them participating trackside.
Bailey is the training partner of Bruny Surin, also of Canada, while Boldon shares the same coach, John Smith, and preparations as Maurice Greene. And as both men recover from injury, all their energy was diverted into a cheering role. Just don't expect either to be watching from the stands in Sydney next year.
