RACING:POOR WEATHER on the east coast could provoke a late shuffling of dates for this weekend's scheduled Dundalk fixtures, with racing authorities concerned about travel conditions for people and horses going to the all-weather circuit tomorrow night.

Final declarations for tomorrow night’s scheduled action – the first in Ireland since last Friday – are due to be made this morning, but last night Turf Club officials weren’t ruling out a late change of plan.

Although the Dundalk authorities are confident the track will be ready for racing, it is access to the track from around the country that is worrying officials.

“We are confident of racing on Friday night but the Turf Club does have concerns about horse boxes travelling on the roads here. It is out of our hands,” Dundalk spokeswomen Emma Meehan said yesterday.

There are currently no concerns about Saturday afternoon’s racing going ahead but travel worries for tomorrow night could see the fixture switched to the afternoon or instead moved to Sunday.
