UCC 3-19 GMIT 1 -10
THREE GOALS in the opening 21 minutes paved the way for UCC to get their Fitzgibbon Cup ambitions back on track at Ardrahan, Co Galway, yesterday.
The Cork college bounced back from their opening-round 14-points loss to Limerick IT to dish out a hammering to a Galway side without a number of key players through injury and suspension. Corner-forward Stephen Moylan set UCC on their way with a fourth-minute goal and when Shane Burke and Rob White also found the net, there was no way back for GMIT. UCC led by 3-9 to 0-6 at the break and while Ronan Madden lashed a 21-yard free into the roof of the net seven minutes after the restart, GMIT struggled to narrow the gap.
