Tipperary 1-17 UCC 1-5:Tipperary's first competitive outing under new manager Liam Sheedy proved successful as they dismissed a tame UCC challenge in a one-sided Waterford Crystal Cup clash at Nenagh yesterday.
UCC started well but points from Shane McGrath and Eoin Kelly (free) brought Tipperary on terms in the 10th minute before they lost Ryan O'Dwyer with a head injury and introduced the rangy Séamus Callanan.
Joe Caesar and Callanan edged the home side two clear before Séamus Butler's 17th minute goal established a 1-8 to 0-3 interval lead. Callanan scored five points from play for Tipperary. UCC's Mike Shanahan grabbed a consolation goal in the 56th minute.
