UCC 3-16 St Patrick's/Mater Dei 1-15:A couple of quick-fire goals early in the second half helped UCC progress to the semi-finals at the Mardyke yesterday.
The teams were level at 0-10 each at the end of a closely-fought first half during which UCC goalkeeper Anthony Nash saved brilliantly from Ritchie Hogan and Bill Beckett struck the crossbar at the other end. But the game swung dramatically UCC's way following goals from James Halbert and Stephen Moylan, with Hogan's free-taking helping St Patrick's stay in touch.
However, a third goal, six minutes from the end by substitute Aidan Harte, clinched UCC's place. Ger Arthur struck a couple of minutes later for a St Patrick's consolation goal.
