British Open winner Paul Lawrie is fortunate to live in Aberdeen. Just two weeks after the Scot won golf's biggest prize he has moved from his £160,000 three-bedroomed house to a £750,000 five-bedroomed, pink granite pile in the up-market area of Bieldside.
Lawrie's £350,000 prize money for winning the Open and projected sponsorship deals of around £5 million have allowed him upgrade his lifestyle. Reports in the UK media point out that Lawrie's purchase is one of the most expensive houses in the city. A similar outlay for a Dublin-based golfer would probably still leave him a few tournaments short of the Vico Road.
