UEFA Champions League Previews: Juan Sebastian Veron (29) wants to remain at Inter Milan when his loan deal expires at the end of the season. The Argentina midfielder joined the Italians in the summer from Chelsea and told their official website, www.inter.it: "I always see myself only at Inter. I will have to wait and see what the club decides because there are many things to consider, but my wish is certainly to remain here."
Suspension-hit holders Porto expect to face a packed Inter defence. "It will be a very difficult game," Porto coach Jose Couceiro said. "From what I've seen the Italian team is counting on resolving the tie in the second leg. (They're) coming to Porto to play cautious defence and not concede any goals, aiming for a draw."
Veron, however, suggested otherwise: "It won't be an easy match but we are going there to win and to try to have as few problems as possible for the second leg."
Porto will be without suspended captain Jorge Costa in defence and Brazilian playmaker Diego. In addition, Brazilians Ibson, Leo Lima and Leandro are ineligible.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini is expected to ask 20-year-old Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins to partner Brazilian Adriano in the attack. Martins' pace is likely to give him the advantage over Christian Vieri, who will probably start on the bench.
BREMEN v LYON: Werder Bremen may need to curb a style bordering on the reckless when they face Olympique Lyon tonight.
The German champions are the leading scorers in the Bundesliga, with 49 goals in 22 matches, and they averaged two goals a game in the opening phase of the Champions League in qualifying behind Inter Milan.
They could not manage a clean sheet in any of their group stage home games, however, and a doubt remains about their ability to play the cannier game required in the knock-out rounds.
Lyon look well able to capitalise should Werder revert to their frantic attacking instincts, especially with Sylvain Wiltord returning to lead a three-man attack.
Werder have captain Frank Baumann suspended but should otherwise be at full strength.
Lyon have young striker Bryan Bergougnoux and international defender Anthony Reveillere both out with ankle injuries.
