JOCKEY INJURED: Ruby Walsh will be sidelined for a few weeks after chipping a bone in his elbow following a fall at Aintree.

The jump jockey sustained the injury when taking a tumble from Ain't That A Shame at the final flight in the Bonusprint European Breeders' Fund "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Aintree on Sunday.

"He's had it checked out and he's chipped a bone in his elbow. He will be out for a few weeks. We don't know exactly how many but as soon as it's better he'll be back," said Walsh's sister and agent, Jennifer.

"He doesn't need an operation. It will heal on its own."

The first significant rides that he misses are four at Cheltenham's opening meeting of the season today, including three for Ditcheat trainer Paul Nicholls.

CATTERICK: The meeting scheduled for today has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

"Where it is waterlogged, it is not draining fast enough, and I can't see it draining overnight now," explained clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson.

"There is still sitting water and we are forecast another 10mm before the start of racing. Both myself and the senior steward do not think it will be fit for racing by tomorrow so we have abandoned now."

NOTTINGHAM: An inspection has been called for 7.30am this morning following 28 millimetres of rain to see if racing can go ahead tomorrow at the Colwick Park track.

"We have got standing water in places.

"It's been dry since one o'clock, although we are forecast up to six millimetres more rain tonight," said clerk of the course Nick Patton yesterday.

YARMOUTH: Today's meeting at Yarmouth is also under threat from the weather with officials at the track calling a precautionary inspection for 7am.

"We are fine at the moment and have had 11.5 millimetres of rain today but it has been dry since lunchtime," said clerk of the course Charlie Moore.

"I have two forecasts that tell me I might have as much as 15 millimetres of rain overnight and while I am confident we can take it, if they are wrong and we get 25 millimetres, it is worth taking the responsible view and having a precautionary look."
