Waterford United extended their unbeaten run to 12 games as they regained the leadership of the First Division with a 2-1 win over Limerick FC at Hogan Park, Rathbane. Paul Carr put Waterford in front two minutes before half-time and a defensive error by Derek White gifted Padraig Dully a soft second goal for Waterford in the 59th minute.

Limerick were thrown a lifeline eight minutes from time when Waterford defender Joe Harkin put into his own net.

St Francis also needed the benefit of an own goal, though this one proved a winner against Monaghan United 2-1 at Gortakeegan to move up to fifth in the table.

Ken Brien's put the ball into his own net eight minutes from the end.

Colm Talbot had headed St Francis into a 22nd minute lead but Aaron Shearer equalised three minutes later.

A tremendous save by youth international goalkeeper, Paul Whelan, kept Bray Wanderers at bay as Home Farm/Everton's revival, following their recent player shake-up, continued with a scoreless draw at Whitehall on Saturday night.

Whelan somehow kept out a header from Richie Parson 20 minutes from time as the Bray striker had to abruptly end his "goal" celebration.

John Brennan scored his 50th goal for Galway United as they came from behind to maintain their promotion push with a convincing 4-1 defeat of Cobh Ramblers at Terryland Park.

Tommy Butler gave Cobh a 12th minute But Galway recovered well to dominate before half-time and Fergal Coleman scored his sixth goal of the season to equalise nine minutes before the interval.

Galway secured their win with two excellent strikes within eight minutes of the second-half. Brennan put them in front with an exquisite half-volley within four minutes before Billy Clery scored with a diving header. Barbados international, Ryan Lucas, added the fourth.
