Nobody has hit their stride more quickly this flat season than the Dermot Weld-Pat Smullen team, and Weld could hit a double figure winner total at Cork this afternoon.

Weld is already on the seven-winner mark for the season and describes his team as being well forward. As another Curragh trainer, Kevin Prendergast, proves with five winners, that is a huge advantage at this stage.

Final Exam has already contributed by scoring at the Curragh last weekend and should be up to coping with the Gladness Stakes fourth, True Blue Victory, in the EBF Race, while Jammaal, off a 112 mark, looks nailed on for the Lee Race.

All the top yards are represented in the mile fillies' maiden, but the Weld runner Madamaa does come from an in-form stable and was tackling an above average filly in Lime Gardens when runner-up on her only start last year.

The John Oxx team have hit the mark three times already, and Afadan has the benefit of a run under his belt, having finished third to the highly rated Pebble Island at Leopardstown. That should give him a leading chance in the mile maiden.

In the six-furlong maiden for two-year-olds, Aidan O'Brien unleashes the Gone West newcomer, Castle Gandolfo. But with the Ballydoyle juveniles far from being all-dominant so far, there will be many who prefer the experience of the Marionnaud, was only just beaten by Master Papa on her Leopardstown debut.

Miracle Ridge has to give weight away all round in the Clonakilty Handicap, but the course and distance winner could just be up to scoring just the same. He has to reverse last weekend's Curragh running with Jacks Estate but should strip fitter for that race.

Last season's top apprentice, Tom Queally, is a noticeable booking at the bottom of the Mallow Handicap for Irish Lady, and the Andrew Lee-trained filly could be the solution to a tough race.
