Racing: Goodwood's Predominate Stakes may not be the most prolific of Derby trials but has a knack of throwing up a smart horse nonetheless.

Westmoreland Road is not entered in the Epsom Classic but is a big, imposing colt who could well feature in something like the St Leger and he can take today's Listed contest.

Amanda Perrett's Diesis colt has made rapid progress this term after shaping with promise on his sole start as a juvenile here in September when he handled the unique ups and downs of the Sussex track well enough. But he relished the step up to 11 furlongs on his reappearance at Newbury when he lengthened in fine style to beat Sentry by three lengths.

He confirmed himself a horse on the upgrade when he galloped some useful rivals into the ground at Newmarket. He is clearly thriving and a trip to the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot awaits if things go to plan today.

He still holds an entry in the Derby and the extra furlong today will be to his advantage.

Namroud is sure to be a popular choice in the Newton Investment Management Stakes after getting the better of Qabas by a neck at Musselburgh. The form of that race has been boosted by the victory of the third Millafonic.
