Wexford are facing a goalkeeping crisis before their opening Bank of Ireland Leinster senior football championship game with Laois on Sunday week.

Regular netminder Ollie Murphy has missed his side's last two outings with a knee injury and is doubtful for the game.

Murphy has played no part in Wexford's recent preparations and manager Ger Halligan has an unusual dilemma regarding his standby keepers.

Substitute goalkeeper Gavin Morris is also reserve netminder for Waterford United, who are still in the FAI Cup and pushing for promotion from Division 1, while third choice, Ciaran O'Leary, also has soccer commitments.

Halligan is keeping his fingers crossed that Morris will not have soccer commitments on the day of the Laois game, even if Murphy overcomes his injury problems.

Meanwhile, Carlow forward Pat Coady, has been ruled out of Sunday's Leinster senior hurling championship clash with Laois.

Coady broke a finger early in the league campaign and missed his side's shock first round championship victory over Westmeath. Former Kilkenny goalkeeper Michael Walsh, in his first year as Carlow's manager, reported no further injury problems.
