Camogie: Wexford maintained their unbeaten run in the Gala Senior Championship on Saturday in New Ross when they withstood a late Kilkenny comeback to finish 1-20 to 4-5 winners.

Kilkenny were a revitalised side from their poor league campaign and wind assisted in the opening half, the Cats led by 2-5 to 1-7 at the interval thanks to two Máire O'Connor goals, with Ursula Jacob scoring Wexford's goal.

Jacob was the scorer in chief for the home side and she set Wexford off on a scoring spree in the second half, finishing with 1-5 while Kate Kelly made a valuable contribution with six points.

Kilkenny's first score of the half came in the 29th minute with a Marie Dargan goal and although she found the net for a second time five minutes later, it was too late for a comeback as Wexford registered a six-point win.

Tipperary's Claire Grogan finished with five points as a crowd of over 1,000 witnessed the Premier County side account for Dublin by 0-15 to 1-7 at Parnell Park. Last year's All-Ireland Junior champions gave a good account of themselves in the opening half. Aisling Jordan's goal after nine minutes ensured the home side held a 1-5 to 0-6 interval lead. However, Tipperary pulled away in the second half with some fine points from Grogan, key sub Cora Hennessy, Eimear McDonnell and Louise Young. Grogan played a captain's role and three points from her stick to just one for Dublin's Louise O'Hara in the 11-minute period after the restart ensured that Tipperary equalised for the second time.

Once Hennessy hit her first point in the 17th minute, there was no looking back for Tipperary and they continued to take their scores well to ensure five points separated the sides at the finish and qualification hopes are kept alive.
