Tipperary booked a semi-final spot against Cork in the Munster Minor Football Championship with a two-points winning margin over Limerick in their round robin play-off in Fermoy on Saturday. Waterford, the group winners, will meet Kerry.
Aided by a 22nd-minute goal from Padraig Whelan, Tipperary led 1-5 to 0-5 at the interval and survived an early second-half penalty when Owen Kennedy hit the woodwork. In a tight finish, the same player met with similar fate as the Tipperary hung on to advance.
