Back in 1978, a foreign footballer was still a rare sight in the English league so Tottenham's signing of Argentinians Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles created quite a stir. Ardiles had the more successful career at White Hart Lane, but Villa earned legendary status with his winning goal in the 1981 FA Cup final replay against Manchester City. After leaving Spurs in 1982 he had spells with American, Colombian and Argentinian clubs before retiring at the age of 38. These days he can be found running his 740-acre ranch south of Buenos Aires.
