Ireland's European Champion, Ian Wiley, yesterday took the silver medal in the canoeing world cup series meeting in Minden, Canada. It was the last of five meetings in the series.
Wiley, who was lying fourth overall in the series, came home in three minutes 47.61 seconds to finish second behind Scott Shipley of the US. The win was enough to ensure Shipley of overall victory in the series.
Wiley's result means he is now ranked number two in the world. His next big test is the world championships in Brazil in September.
