Four times World Cross-country Challenge winner Catherina McKiernan took impressive first steps towards her new marathon career with half marathon victory in Glasgow yesterday. "I just went for a run," said McKiernan, who had no ambitions at the start. But, she led from three miles out and came home in a fast world-ranking 69 minutes to beat the course record by four minutes and finish two minutes clear of second-placed Kenyan Lucia Subano.
