Jude Doyle and David McKeon, both members of the St Anne's club, made a winning start on their debuts in the Bank of Ireland-sponsored links outing at Co Louth last week. Both finished on 71 with Doyle taking the honours with a back nine of 33 nett. Dermott McKenna (Blainroe) took third place with a 72. Irish International Noel Fox from Portmarnock, however, recorded the best score of the day with a gross 69 to beat Jim Carvill (Bar-One-Racing) into second place with former Walker Cup player, Jody Fanagan next on 73. Fox's seven birdies helped himself, Paddy Whelan (K Club) and Joe Somers (Charlesland) to win the team prize with a nett 61. The next outing of the links winter programme will be at Seapoint on November 15th.
