Rookie defender Lee Naylor scored his first goal for Wolves to help secure a trip to Wimbledon in the last 16 of the FA Cup as Mark McGhee's side overcame first-division rivals Charlton 3-0 at Molineux last night.

Naylor, aged just 17 and making only his third start for the club, headed home from a Don Goodman cross three minutes into the second half of the fourth-round replay.

Earlier, skipper Keith Curle converted a 29th-minute penalty - awarded when goalkeeper Andy Petterson brought down Dougie Freedman following a weak backpass by Mark Kinsella.

Mixu Paatelainen turned in a cross from Freedman for the third goal in the 65th minute and as Charlton's frustrations increased, they had striker Mark Bright sent off after a clash with Wolves goalkeeper Mike Stowell.

Charlton's night had started badly when they lost midfielder Matty Holmes with a suspected broken leg after only five minutes following a tackle by Wolves defender Kevin Muscat.

Plucky Cardiff were unable to keep the third-division flag flying as, after finishing level at 1-1, they lost a sudden-death penalty shootout (4-3) at Reading, who now visit Sheffield United in the fifth round after the Blades saw off Ipswich 10 in their replay.

Sheffield are still unbeaten at home this season after midfielder Don Hutchison's penalty settled the issue at Bramall Lane.

Argentinian defender Mauricio Taricco fouled Brazilian-born Portuguese striker Marcello after 13 minutes and former Liverpool and West Ham star Hutchison ended a 15-month goal drought by tucking away the spotkick.

Ipswich had a chance to draw level, but David Johnson fired a penalty against the post.
