Tiger Woods was pleased at the decision to postpone the Ryder Cup.
"I definitely think it's the right decision, especially with retaliation imminent," Woods said last night. "The last thing you want to do is get caught in Europe.
"Whatever decision the PGA of America made, I was going to support," Woods said. "They made the safest decision."
Woods was notified of the Ryder Cup postponement by US captain Curtis Strange: "I talked to Curtis today. He said the same team would play next year in September at The Belfry and the Presidents Cup goes to 2003.
"They've just moved everything back a year."
Not only is he concerned about international travel, Woods himself is still coping with the aftermath of Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.
"I think we need to come together as a nation, and I think were doing that," he added.
"It's unfortunate that it took a situation like this to bring people together, but at least it's happening. Our national pride is starting to come out."
