Richard Quinn landed a winner at Portman Square yesterday. But his success was bad news for weighing-room colleague Tony Culhane, who lost a victory and was handed a two-day ban to boot.
Quinn appealed to the disciplinary committee of the Jockey Club against the stewards' decision not to award his second-placed mount Focus a maiden race at York 10 days ago.
He was aggrieved at the panel's verdict that interference caused by first-past-the-post Princely Dream, ridden by Culhane, had been accidental and not improved his position.
After hearing evidence from the two jockeys and a steward at the meeting and seeing video recordings of the race, the committee agreed with him.
