Stocks rise due to good news about inflation

Stocks rose on Tuesday as investors picked through reams of corporate earnings and fresh economic data, taking Cisco Systems Inc.'s profit warnings as a sign the worst may have past, along with good news about inflation.

The Nasdaq composite index ended with a gain of 13.47 points, or 0.71 percent, at 1,923.04, according to the latest data, while the Dow Jones industrial average rose 54.30 points, or 0.57 percent, to 10,216.86. Broader indexes fared better, with the Standard & Poor's 500 rising 12.11 points, or 1.03 percent, to 1,191.79.
