The Sigma group is one of the largest private telecoms firms in the Republic. It generated £115 million (€146 million) turnover in the year to December 31st, 2000. It consists of three main operating firms - Sigma Telecom, Sigma Wireless Technology and Sigma Wireless Communications - which are registered in the Republic.
Recently filed accounts show its wireless and fixed telecoms subsidiary Sigma Telecom grew turnover to £85 million in the period to December 31st, 2000, up from £56 million in 1999. The company, which employs about 80 people, made gross profits of £7.1 million, although net profit was £1 million.
Sigma Communications Group Limited, which provides radio communications equipment and services, reported turnover of £12.5 million in the period. However, the company, which employs 124 people, reported an operating loss of £52,756 for the year.
Other group subsidiaries include Sigma Wireless Limited, Finglas Technologies Limited and Sigma Wireless Networks.
