The capital's doughnut lovers will no longer have to move from the comfort of the couch to get their hands on their favourite treats following a new partnership between delivery app Just Eat Ireland and Krispy Kreme.
In news that is unlikely to impress anti-obesity campaigners, fans of the American doughnut company and coffeehouse chain will be able to order its products straight to their door from 10am on Tuesday.
Krispy Kreme entered the Irish market with a doughnut outlet in the Blanchardstown Centre in October before it quickly became a victim of its own success.
The opening of the store led to a queue of 300 people at 7am on its first day of operation, before it was subsequently forced to axe its 24/7 drive thru operation because of multiple complaints from local residents.
Traffic jams, which resembled the Christmas rush hour, were blamed on customers trying to get access to the Krispy Kreme drive thru. Furthermore, local residents were disturbed by customers beeping their horns in the middle of the night.
Just Eat Ireland commercial director Edel Kinane said the delivery app was pleased to expand on its offering to customers in the confectionary sector.
“We’re thrilled to launch exclusively with Krispy Kreme here in Ireland and have no doubt that Krispy Kreme fans throughout the city will be delighted to hear that they can now order their favourites for delivery,” she said.
“Our customers have always expressed a demand for wide variety, and we strive to exceed their expectations.
“Krispy Kreme joins the market leading Just Eat platform as the latest in our delivery offering of sweet treats, as we continue to extend the Just Eat portfolio of cuisine types, providing food for every order occasion.”
Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer Emma Colquhoun said the partnership was in response to the high demand experienced by the company.
“We are excited to launch this exciting partnership with Just Eat in order to respond to huge customer demand for doughnut delivery,” she said.
“We look forward to offering our delicious, doughnuts, all freshly made in our Blanchardstown theatre store, to customers across Dublin.”
