Retail group agrees a deal to buy family-owned CJ O’Loughlin for undisclosed sum

Musgrave, the retail group that owns Supervalu and Centra, has agreed a deal to buy CJ O'Loughlin, a foodservice industry supplier based in Wexford, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquired business, subject to approval from competition regulators, will be subsumed into Musgrave MarketPlace, the group’s wholesale division that supplies 52,000 outlets nationwide.

CJ O’Loughlin, which supplies food to restaurants and other customers across the southeast of the country, a family-owned business.

Its staff and management will transfer to Musgrave.

The Cork group in late 2014 expanded its foodservice supply business by buying most of the Allied Foods division from listed conglomerate DCC.
