Ryanair said on Wednesday that on-line travel agent Edreams has changed its Google ad after the airline filed High Court claims against both companies.

The airline is suing Google and Edreams claiming that they used its trademark to mislead customers into buying flights at inflated prices.

It issued a statement welcoming changes made to the Edreams display on the Google search page which now reads “Ryanair flight on Edreams” rather than “Ryanair: cheap flights”, one of the phrases objected to in its legal action.

The airline's chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, said it noted the "immediate impact" that its legal action has had.

“While this is a step in the right direction, our campaign will continue until these deceptive practices are fully eradicated,” he added.

Ryanair accuses Edreams of deliberately using the airline’s trademark as part of the travel agent’s Google adwords campaign to redirect customers to its website.

Edreams has said that the legal action is “clearly just another attempt from Ryanair to stop on-line travel agencies from offering consumers the best price and choice when it comes to booking flights”.
