Rug Art, at Terminus Mills, Clonskeagh Road, Dublin 6 (01-2690505) has several designs cut by 40 per cent. The rug above (1.4m x 2m) was €615 and is now €369; in a larger format it was €895 and is now €537. A similar design in beige and purple was €480 and is now €288; in a larger format it was €695 and is now €417.

THE Linen Mill on New Road in Westport, Co Mayo (098-29500) has a sale on Persian rugs with 40 per cent-plus off its range of new Pakistan designs. All are 100 per cent wool, vegetable hand-dyed and
hand-knotted. Prices start from €504 for a dusty pink, taupe and cream hearth design which was €840. Another green and orange large-format rug was €1,300 and is now €780. Runners are from €469.
