The storage of medications at a Dublin hospital was reviewed following the suicide of a former member of staff, Dublin District Coroner's Court has heard.

Dr Adam Osbourne (29) of Limewood Court, Bishopstown, Co Cork, died after injecting potassium chloride and taking a number of other drugs on July 16th, 2012, the court heard.

Dr Osbourne had finished working at the Adelaide and Meath Hospital the week before and had moved to Cork to undertake specialist training in radiology.

Ciara Kirke, drug safety co-ordinator at the hospital, said that, in light of Dr Osbourne's death, they had reviewed both the storage in the emergency unit and in the rest of the hospital and that all of the recommendations were completed.

Ms Kirke said they were aware Dr Osborne had visited the hospital the previous Saturday.

Dr Osbourne checked into a room in the Tara Towers Hotel on the Merrion Road in Dublin on July 15th and was found by members of staff when he did not check out on time the following day.

Yesterday, coroner Dr Brian Farrell returned a verdict of death by suicide at the inquest.
