Boy (2) found dead in Limerick apartment

Gardaí and emergency services called to the scene on Parnell Street on Saturday

The body of a two-year-old boy was found in an apartment in Limerick on Saturday afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services were responding to a call when they made the discovery in an apartment on Parnell Street at about 4.30pm.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Limerick and the State Pathologist was notified. A postmortem is due to be carried out on Sunday afternoon.

The scene is being preserved for technical examination and gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
