A woman has been found dead in a house in Meath, gardaí said.

The woman, understood to be in her late 30s or early 40s, was pronounced dead at the home on Edgeworth Court in Longwood after gardaí arrived at the estate.

The discovery was shortly before 5pm this evening.

A man who was in the house at the time was taken from the scene to Mullingar hospital but his condition is believed to be non life-threatening.

The State pathologist’s office has been notified and garda forensic officers are to carry out a technical examination of the house.

Gardaí said there was no sign of a forced entry to the property and no one else was at the house.
