CALCUTTA - Mother Teresa's condition was stable yesterday after an uneasy night of chest pains and lung congestion, but doctors treating the nun said she might have to undergo a surgical procedure.

"Mother Teresa had mild chest pain early this morning," a medical bulletin issued by doctors treating the 86 year old nun said. "Otherwise her condition remains unchanged."

Doctors at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Calcutta, where Mother Teresa is being treated, said her condition stabilised after her third heart failure in four days occurred on Sunday.
