More than 150 plants, some over 5ft tall, discovered on disused land in Kingston

A “forest” of suspected cannabis plants that looked like Christmas trees has been found in a remote area.

Police were called on Friday by a member of the public, who came across plants growing on disused private land on Lower Marsh Lane, Kingston, southwest London.

Officers found more than 150 plants, some more than 5ft tall, Scotland Yard said.

Police Constable Sarah Henderson, of Kingston borough, said: "The area these plants were growing on was the size of a football pitch, it looked like a small forest of Christmas trees and was complete with a gazebo.

“Whoever set this up used a really remote spot; the only way to get there was a 20-minute walk through wasteland. But all their time, trouble and gardening skills will go unrewarded, as the whole lot will now be destroyed by police.”

The Met said there have been no arrests and anyone who has any information about the cultivation of these plants should call police on 101.
