Sir, – With local and European elections looming, what do we really know about any of the candidates?
Flyers thrown through letterboxes or posters on poles do not really tell the story behind the human beings seeking our votes.
What do we know of their business interests?
Are they landlords, are they benefiting from the influx of asylum seekers or international protection applicants?
‘People don’t just want dinner – they want an occasion’: Restaurants share their secrets to survival
Daniel Geary: Without Signal security leak, we would not have known depth of Trump’s contempt for Europe
Fionnula Flanagan: I remember the ‘No Irish or dogs’ signs. I didn’t want to live in a country that took that attitude towards me
It took about 40 seconds for US immigration officers to lift the Turkish student off the streets of Boston
Do they have vacant or disused properties which could be reused to house our homeless people?
Are they really concerned for those of us who need proper representation or are they just promoting their own agendas?
This is where our media and commentators who interview candidates need to go. They need to ask the hard questions.
Do candidates flyers and proclamations marry up with what is actually known about them or do we as voters just accept what we are being told? – Yours, etc,
CHRISTY GALLIGAN,
